NATIONAL NIGHT OUT 2008
See What Your Neighbors Have Planned for National
Night Out!

National Neighbor Night Out is scheduled for Tuesday, October 7th.
Due to our busy schedules during the week, I would like to celebrate
this opportunity to meet our new neighbors and get reacquainted with
old neighbors on Saturday, October 4th from 7:30pm to 9:30pm.  We
will have an outdoor movie theater set up showing this summer’s
blockbuster, “Iron Man”.  Along with the movie we will be serving
dinner (hamburgers, chips, and drinks) along with popcorn.
Admission for the entire family (household) is $20.  The movie will be
shown at 3823 Katy Hollow Dr.  Please bring your lawn chairs and
blankets. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me,
Yolanda 3800 block captain of Katy Hollow.

Thanks

National Night Out in Texas will be held on Tuesday,
Oct. 7th from 6-9 p.m.

Matt Peskin in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania founded National Night Out in 1983.
The National Association of Town Watch (NATW) sponsors it. It has since grown
to become a national event observed in all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canada,
and military bases around the world. NATW is a member of the Crime
Prevention Coalition and the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC).

National Night Out is designed to: (1) heighten crime and drug prevention
awareness;  (2) generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime
programs; (3) strengthen neighborhoods spirit and police-community relations;
and (4) send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are
organized and are fighting back.

Along with traditional display of front porch outdoor lights, cities, towns, and
neighborhoods celebrate National Night Out with a variety of events and activities
such as: block parties, cook outs, parades, youth programs, and visits from local
law enforcement personnel.

Harris County first participated in National Night Out in 1986. In 1998,
Houston/Harris County was awarded the top national honor for “Best
Participation.” Harris County shared in receiving the “All Star Award” presented in
1990. In 1994, 1995, 1997, and 1999 Houston/Harris County ranked nationally.
In 2000, 2003, & 2006 Houston/Harris County received the second place awards
for its effort.

We now have many new residents in our county and it is no better time than
now to meet our new neighbors and become involved in the safety of our
community. We strongly urge you to join our celebration to give criminals a
going away party
.
