| What is the Neighborhood Watch? The Neighborhood Watch Program is a program where homeowners and residents of the neighborhood work together to reduce opportunities for crime to occur. We are taught how to make our homes less of a target, how to properly identify and communicate important information. What is essential for a Neighborhood Watch program to be successful? You are! Local law enforcement has suggested that at least 60% of the neighborhood needs to participate in the Watch program for it to be successful. What are some ways that I can help? Block captains are needed on many of our neighborhood streets and are absolutely crucial to the success of this program -- and many others. Block captains will serve as a communicator between the neighborhood residents and the watch program committee. They will assist residents in reporting suspicious activity as well as providing special event information. What is the Neighborhood Watch Program doing to keep our neighborhood safe. Plans are being made for a safety festival, fingerprinting and identification kits for our children, the establishment of safe houses in the event of an emergency in your home, training and education for children, teens and residents on safety and criminals, as well as several other special programs to keep our neighborhood safe, educated and informed. A complete information packet from the Sheriff's office is available in PDF format. This includes crime logs, responsibilities, and rights of the Neighborhood Watch Program and residents. Check this page and the calendar often for safety tips, information and special events.
